At Burt’s Bees, we believe in the power of nature in beeswax, rosemary, and sweet almond oil. We also support sustainability and community outreach and have from the beginning. As a startup, we did things a little differently. Roxanne Quimby was an artist living in San Francisco, and Burt Shavitz was a photojournalist in Manhattan. Together they decided to escape the hectic city life to find freedom in the pristine, remote wilderness of Maine. They started tending and nurturing bee hives, and using the natural wax into candles and lip balm. That lip balm is so popular that in 2017, reports show that one tube of lip balm was sold every second.
