ENGLISH:Mass had just finished one spring day in 1774 at the Del Carmen Convent. As the crowds exited the convent, Friar San Benito approached Mrs. Juan Garcia de Miranda and her 18 year old daughter Maria Luisa. After a brief exchange the friar unsheathed his stiletto knife and stabbed young Maria Luisa on her neck and face.
The friar Immediately tried to make his escape on foot through the small city streets but was quickly captured and placed in the royal jail to await trial. It is then that the backstory that led to these horrific events became known.

Yá habia terminado la misa en el convento del Carmen de la ciudad de Sanlucar de Barrameda España. Era un día de primavera de marzo de 1774 a eso de las 11:30 de la manana. Entre los que iban saliendo se encontraba doña Juan Garcia de Miranda acompañada de su hija Maria Luisa de diesciocho años. En eso se le acerca el Fraile Pablo de San Benito y después de un breve intercambio toma su cuchillo flamenco y apuñala a la joven varias veces, en el cuello y en su cara.
Luego de un pobre intento de escape fray Pablo es detenido, y puesto en la carcel real. Durante el proceso de juicio sale a relucir la historia de lo sucedido.
