Sarah’s face the first time she saw an avocado was pricelist. South American food is much stronger in flavor than British cuisine, so it took her time to adjust. It looks different as well, and her first glimpse at a bright green avocado was a clear refusal. None of us could get her to try it, but eventually, she gave way to curiosity. Pretty soon avocados began disappearing from the kitchen late at night and the cooks could not figure out how. Then we found the pits hidden in her room, so she stopped hiding her love of them.
