Thomas Sean Connery was born on August 25, 1930, in Fountainbridge, Scotland. His father Joe was a truck driver and factory worker, and his mother Euphemia was a cleaning lady. He also had a brother, Neil Connery, who made a few movies and then became a businessman. The family was of Scottish and Irish descent, and their home was a simple two-room flat. As an infant, he slept in a bureau drawer because they couldn’t afford a proper crib. Long before he chose the life of an actor, Connery had many different jobs, as well as some time in the Royal Navy. He was a football player, a milkman, art model, coffin polisher, lorry driver, and bodybuilder.
