Let us start from scratch. This article is named Voiceover and Podcast Content because we are going to explore what type of content you can make when delivering a podcast and how that is translatable to voiceover. How are we going to do that? Well, we can break it down into two categories, the how and the what. The ‘how’ is a bit more technical and the ‘what’ is more about the content. Let us delve in.
What Kind of Podcast Content is Appealing in Voiceover
There are so many topics in the voiceover industry. Looking at the genres alone, there are Animation, IVR, Video Games, Commercials, Promos, Documentaries, Political, Medical, Automotive, Audiobooks, Radio, Promos, and a dozen others too. We are certainly not short on genres. Then there is the latest industry news which is an ever-growing stream of content. You can even podcast on the latest or best equipment. Hey! You can even podcast on your best editing tips or even a narrative of your own voiceover ventures. Really, what I am getting at here as we explore the ‘what’ in this article, is that if you have knowledge or experience on a topic, you can probably talk about it.
How Do You Make a Podcast?
The technicalities behind it are not too tricky. First of all, you need to have a distribution platform and there are dozens out there to pick from. What this platform does is it takes your content and distributes it on all the streaming platforms. Be this Google, Apple, Spotify, Amazon, and so on. It can be a bit tricky sometimes setting that up but it is a subscription-styled service which means they have a customer service team that will typically be great to help you out if you are stuck
Voicing a Podcast – What Else Do You Need?
A standard VO setup will certainly work in your favor. So really all you need is; you’re voice (of course) a microphone and a computer! You can read more about transferable skills between voiceovers in another article we recently published. Here you can also learn a bit more about the details surrounding editing and equipment and so on. When you begin building your podcast episode on your distribution platform of choice, you will need to have a title, episode description, and graphic to launch the episode. This information will appear everywhere when the episode goes live.
