Anything with the letter ‘E’ at the beginning gives us some degree of predetermined thought or feeling doesn’t it? It makes us think of electronics, faster, easier, or more convenient elements. Everything is ‘E’ now too which only ads to the hype. In fact the car company Nissan, now has something called the ‘E-Pedal’. An E Pedal? How does that work? Well, I could go into the details of how it detects acceleration or not and in turn, uses that as a means to slow the car down whilst charging the battery but instead what I really want to talk about is E-Signatures for voice actors. A voiceover e-signature is a wonderful thing and actually allows you to get creative! So let us delve in.
What Is an E-Signature?
An E-Signature is the sign-off at the bottom of an email. E-Signatures host the standard elements residing at the foot of the sender’s email. The purpose of the e-signature is to offer the reader the information the sender expects them to want. There are challenges with e-signatures though! For example, the sender may over fill the e-signature and in turn it might look pretty clunky. So that begs the question of what does the reader want to see?
What Should a Voice Actor Display in Their E-Signature?
The reader may want to check out the voice actors work, so a link to the website will be a good first point of call. Don’t have a website? No problem, you can get in touch with us for free to learn about how to get one. You should also include your email address into the e-signature to. This might seem odd because they could just reply to your email however, often your email might get forwarded on to another department or colleague. This means whoever opens it next will have to scroll through email jargon to locate your email address. Keep it nice and simple so they can find it easily in your e-signature. Also, a common thing to have in an e-signature is a company name and phone number. Though phone numbers are not used to often, they are still good to have.
Voiceover E-Signature Decor
The difference between a beautifully decorated cake and a poorly decorated cake is evident. One is neat, tidy, elegant and perfect in craft. The other is messy, uneven, cracked and broken. The same is true with the decor of an E-Signature. If you are using an image, logo or headshot make sure it is proportionate to the text and formatted well. You certainly do not want it to be to big, so try it out yourself with some blank emails before emailing potential clients.
