Zora Neale Hurston was a filmmaker, anthropologist, and American author who wrote about the racial struggles of the American South in the early 1900s. Their Eyes Were Watching God, was published in 1937 and is one of her most popular novels. She also wrote plays, essays, over 50 short stories, and fiction about contemporary issues of the Black community. Zora became a central figure of the Harlem Renaissance, focused on African-American folklore and a community’s identity.
